Southside Aquatics (SSA) is a very successful medium-sized club, out-performing expectations on a State and National level, with a history of high achievement. The manageable size of the club enables low swimmer-to-coach ratios and a focus on individual attention for each swimmer. The club caters for swimmers of all levels in a squad structure ranging from Mini Squad through Junior Squad, State and National Level squads. More squad details here.
In striving to achieve personal goals, the club's emphasis is on building character, discipline, desire, determination and confidence in each swimmer. This prepares our swimmers to handle challenges presented in elite level swimming, as well as in other aspects of their personal lives - life skills used for many years after leaving the sport. At Southside Aquatics swim club, we understand the real meaning of winning is to reach one's true potential, and not the place you finish in the pool.
We also recognise the value of parents and carers in supporting swimmers’ goals and contributing to the functioning of the club.
In 2017, Southside Aquatics achieved a Top Ten listing in the Swimming Australia Club of the Year Awards – an achievement of which we are very proud and which indicates commitment to the success of the club by a large number of people within our swimming community.
Southside Aquatics Swim Club operates from two venues.
Originally established in 2001 at the pool of Redeemer Lutheran College, 745 Rochedale Road, Rochedale, Queensland, the club expanded to a second venue in January 2019 at nearby John Paul College, John Paul Drive, Daisy Hill. Together with our Learn-to-Swim partner Absolute Aquatics, SSA participates in a contractual arrangement as the aquatics program manager of each college and offers a competitive vehicle for swimmers.

Southside Aquatics is a First Division Club with the Brisbane Swimming Association (BSA). We compete in local interclub, regional, state, national and international meets. The club draws swimmers from a wide area including Brisbane south, Logan and the Gold Coast corridor, as well as local families from both Colleges.
The club holds occasional club nights throughout each year and members of all ages are encouraged to take part. These are fun nights where younger swimmers can experience competitive swimming procedures; and swimmers and their parents/carers can meet socially for a shared purpose.
SSA operates independently as an incorporated association. Our Constitution can be viewed here.
Southside Aquatics is fortunate to have facilities which enable us to offer training all year round for our swimmers. The facilities available to the club at Redeemer Lutheran College include an eight lane 25m pool heated to 27 degrees all year round. The pool is fitted with four Olympic-standard OSB11 starting blocks, and three backstroke starting wedges are available for swimmers to use. The poolside showers and toilet blocks have also been refurbished to a high standard. Dry-land training facilities include access to a well-equipped and resourced gymnasium adjacent to the pool in the College grounds. Swimmers also use other training equipment owned by the club.
The Redeemer pool surrounds have undergone major capital improvements in 2018 including the construction of large permanent shade structures on two sides of the pool, a large new shed providing an undercover training area and re-surfacing of the pool deck with new artificial turf “decking”. These exciting improvements are the first major upgrades to the pool facilities for a number of years.
At John Paul College the facilities include a ten wide-lane 25m pool heated to 27 degrees all year round. There is a wireless timing system available to the Club and there is a low concrete grandstand on two sides. The poolside showers and toilet blocks are of a high standard and there is an adjacent state-of-the-art fully-equipped gym. An indoor marshalling area is also available.
